Chapter 3 - WTF?! and Conversations With Roy (continued. Conversation 1)

“Roy?  I’m your next door neighbor.  My name’s Jennifer.”  Roy gasps and jumps.  I thought he would run away but slowly he walks over to the gate.  He does not say anything, but he opens the gate and gestures for me to come in to the yard.  I’m slightly frightened.  The yard is a car graveyard.  It is strange to see it from a two story window, but standing in the middle of it, it is even more eerie and strangely quiet.  I can see that the cars are in fact wrecked cars.  There are 5 of them.  Three of them are burned in various degrees.  The other 2 are obviously rolled cars with roofs caved in and twisted frames.  They are partially covered with tarps and it is clear that whoever was in these cars when this happened to them did not survive the accidents.  Roy motions for me to come over to one of the cars.  I walk slowly over.  He opens his mouth to speak.  “They are not gone.”  He says to me.  I notice that there is still blood in this car.  I get chills.
“Who is not gone Roy?  What’s going on here?”
“The people are still in the cars, just like the people are still in your house.  There are bones.  Bones!”
“What people?!  What bones?!”  I say.  My heart is racing.  I feel a chill and suddenly I realize I can feel them.  I know they are here.
“Dead people.  He killed them.  They don’t leave.” He tells me.
I’m feeling sick to my stomach.  I am realizing that something terrible happened in the Voodoo House.  I ask him, “Who Roy?  Who did he kill?  Who is he?”
The backdoor of Roy’s house opens.  “Roy?  Roy?  Where have you gone boy?  It’s time for your medicine.”
Roy’s face goes ashen and he motions for me to leave.  “Coming.”  He tells the woman.  I run out the gate.  I walk in stunned silence back to the Voodoo House.  I sit on my porch smoking a clove.  My fingers are shaking.  I see a car pull up to Drug Dealer Guy’s house.  What if he’s the one?  What if he is the “he” Roy referred to?  Am I living next door to a murderer?  I know I’m jumping to conclusions now.  I decide that nothing will be resolved tonight, but I fully intend to visit Roy again…soon.
